تحقیق پیش رو با هدف کلی شناسایی نقش ویژگی‌های جغرافیایی استان‌ها بر توسعه‌ی گردشگری ورزشی در ایران انجام گرفت. همچنین
شناسایی عوامل جغرافیایی موثر بر توسعه‌ی گردشگری ورزشی از سایر اهداف این پژوهش بود. روش تحقیق پژوهش از لحاظ نوع و تحلیل دادهها، از نوع کیفی با رویکرد تحلیل تماتیک بود. جامعه آماری این پژوهش را کلیه متخصصان حوزه گردشگری ورزشی و متخصصان جغرافیا تشکیل می‌دادند. از مصاحبه برای جمع‌آوری اطلاعات استفاده شد و بعد از ۱۱ مصاحبه اشباع اطلاعاتی حاصل شد. با توجه به نتایج ویژگی‌های اقلیمی، پتانسیل‌های طبیعی، جغرافیای انسانی و عوامل زیرساختی به عنوان چهار مولفه‌ی جغرافیایی استانی موثر بر توسعه ی گردشگری ورزشی در ایران شناسایی شدند. - Abstract

The present research was conducted with the general aim of identifying the role of geographical features of the provinces on the development of sports tourism in Iran. Also, identifying the geographical factors affecting the development of sports tourism was one of the other goals of this research. In terms of the type and data analysis, the research method was qualitative with thematic analysis approach. The statistical population of this research consisted of all sports tourism specialists and geography specialists. Interviews were used to collect information and after ۱۱ interviews, information saturation was achieved. According to the results, climatic characteristics, natural potentials, human geography and infrastructure factors were identified as four provincial geographical components affecting the development of sports tourism in Iran.
